LOCKSMITH TRAINING COURSE YORKSHIRE

(website available for rent, for info email: toomanylocksmiths@outlook.com)

We do not offer training due to what we believe to be the state of the locksmith industry in some areas of the UK. We may open training in the future when we believe there is a need to. In the meantime this page will be left up so that it can be changed quickly in the future should we decide to perform training. If we left it empty it may cause issues with google.

We believe that, the locksmith industry in some areas of the UK, (ESPECIALLY IN CERTAIN AREAS INCLUDING PARTS OF YORKSHIRE AND OTHERS) has more locksmiths than fans at a Taylor Swift concert

***NEWS RECEIVED VIA EMAIL FROM A YORKSHIRE BASED LOCKSMITH:

“After seeing about a message about locksmiths in Yorkshire and surrounding areas I thought I would let you know the following. I paid for my course with ***********  it has since come to light the following.

TRAINING COMPANY ********** under the company name ************* now have a national side called **************  they let lads and lasses pay thousands for the training then set up in there areas appearing to be local then contacting the lads that have done the course offering them work in there area in turn taking possible work away from them and taking a 50/50 cut on profit.”

Can you believe this folks?  According to this locksmith a training company may have set up a seperate locksmith company which actually competes with and takes 50% of the profits AWAY from the the very students which they taught! How very kind of them!

We have removed the company name for the moment and will discuss on revealing it at some point in time.

See this list for our opinion on some (but not all) areas of low level of competition

BIRMINGHAM

LEICESTER

COVENTRY

NORTHAMPTON

STRATFORD UPON AVON

——————————————————————————————————————————–

In our opinion, many locksmith training companies, after the training is complete, are not financially affected whether you succeed or fail. We think that they may hope that you succeed and indeed wish you well, but it won’t cost them if you don’t.

We recommend the following in order to obtain an accurate level of information regarding competition in your area:

-Go on google maps and type in ‘locksmith’. You may get a good idea of how much competition is in your area.

-Why is it our opinion that some areas of Yorkshire has more locksmiths more than some (but not all) other places? We think this because because there are a high concentration of training companies around parts of the yorkshire area (especially in the north of england), some of these (but not all) churn out locksmiths quite frequently which in our opinion dilutes the market.

Are you of military background?

Many companies love you like a squirrel loves nuts. This is because they know you have a lump some of £££ and in our opinion want a large chunk of that pie. In our opinion, some centres actively target military personel because of this reason. We have spoke to many locksmiths who are of ex military background who can vouch for this having received advertisments from them.

training programs.

But I’ve seen on rogue traders that locksmiths make hundred of pounds per job?

Due to what we believe regarding the level of competition of the locksmith industry in certain areas, many locksmiths have to work as a sub contractor for large national companies to survive. They set the prices, and yes, many of the jobs they charge high, however you don’t get to keep it. Some take up to 60% of the job and you only keep 40%. The customer doesn’t know this however and you are in the firing line of their anger having ‘ripped them off’.

Then theres the ‘warrant locksmith’ avenue that many locksmiths go down. This is also low paid in our opinion and can be extremely dangerous. This is where you enter into properties on behalf of energy companies for people who haven’t paid their bills. We have known warrant locksmiths who have:

-Been slashed across the face with knifes

-Been beaten up

-Been sued by customers for false entry (and left to handle the law suit alone with no help)

-Have their vans smashed to bits

-Be stalked and followed home (particularly when entering cannabis farms controlled by drugs gangs)

Who is your competition?

EVERYONE (Kind of 😉 )

There is no licence required to be a locksmith in England. Because of this you aren’t only competing with many other locksmiths. You are also competing with:

-Paul the neighbour with a screwdriver

-Handymen who work for beer money

-Local milkman who watched a youtube video on how to change locks

-Youtube (which tells the customer how to do most things themselves)

We are a member on a popular locksmith facebook group. On this group with regularly see locksmiths who throw the towel in and they struggle to survive with work loads they have (as shown in the images below). Some are selling their tools for a fraction of the price they paid for them, some end up getting divorced after loosing too much money.

Could I make more money doing night work?

We believe there is still little work at night. However for those that dare to go out at night many will be in competition with groups called the ‘49ers’. These are essentially run by people who use aggressive pricing strategies and are not to be messed with.

Locksmith Training Yorkshire

Who should attend locksmith training?

We think that, if you enjoy picking locks and don’t want to actually use it to make lots of money but just for fun then it may be for you.

Some people will still try and get you to be a locksmith saying:

‘’oh it was quiet during covid but now its not’’ – Nope, in our opinion, it’s still the same and this text was updated in 2024.

‘’the locksmiths who are quiet just don’t market themselves enough’’ –  many locksmiths try MANY methods of advertising, it’s a simple fact, there is only a certain amount of work out there. More work doesn’t magic itself out of thin air.

TRAINING SCHOOL

‘’look, they have many positive reviews!’’ – we believe that some people leave reviews of the where they have been (with good intentions), however that they often leave the reviews before realising the level of work available.

Why? Look at the reviews, many say comments such as:

“it was great”

“they were knowledgable”

“Thats great!”

But we need to see feedback regarding how these people are doing a while after. (Well we have posted some of their feedback on the screen shots below)

Once again, not all areas of the UK are hard to survive as a locksmith, do your homework, ask questions, ask the MLA, just make sure there is demand in your area before jumping into the deep end.

And that’s all folks!

We leave you with screen shots from a facebook group which show various locksmiths struggling to show you an accurate impression of the life of a locksmith in certain areas. These pictures were picked out during a period of 30 minutes of scrolling through a locksmith facebook group. We honestly got tired with the amount however there are many more just like these.

To the admins of this facebook group. We apologise for taking screen shots of messages from this group, however we feel it is important to show these as it gives a very clear picture of how the locksmith game really is in some areas of the uk.  All names have been blocked out in order for privacy of the posters, we will never post real names in order to respect their privacy.

We give a special thanks to all the numerous locksmiths who have written in agreeing with our views.
